Markel, the insurance division of Markel Group Inc. (NYSE: MKL), has promoted Matthew Brooke to Senior Underwriter for War and Terrorism, effective immediately.
Brooke, who has been with Markel for over three years, will now lead efforts to grow the company’s international war and terrorism portfolio. His expanded role includes identifying gaps in political violence coverage, developing tailored insurance solutions, and strengthening relationships with coverholders and claims teams. He will also mentor junior underwriters within the team.
Prior to joining Markel, Brooke spent eight years at W/R/B Underwriting, where he specialized in political risk and political violence insurance.
“Matt’s deep experience and understanding of the complex global risk landscape make him ideally suited to help advance our offerings in high-risk markets,” said Chloe Gordge, Head of War and Terrorism at Markel.
The promotion comes amid rising geopolitical tensions and evolving threats, as insurers adapt to increasingly sophisticated terror risks worldwide.
