Morgan Lewis announced that Stephen Walters, an accomplished mergers and acquisitions and general corporate lawyer with more than 25 years of experience, has joined the firm as a partner in the Business and Finance Practice, resident in London.

Mr. Walters’s practice focuses on public and private mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity and other equity financing transactions, corporate governance and general corporate advisory matters, as well as financial services work. He represents an array of corporate clients, investment funds and financial institutions.

Mr. Walters was most recently a partner in the Corporate Practice of an international law firm. He has regularly led multi-jurisdictional teams of lawyers on complex M&A transactions in Europe and has also advised clients on M&A transactions in a number of emerging markets.

“Stephen’s arrival further solidifies the growth and development of our international platform,” said Firm Chair Francis M. Milone. “His cross-border experience will prove invaluable to our clients seeking acquisition opportunities to drive global growth.”

“Stephen reinforces our M&A capabilities and international private equity position in the UK,” said Peter Sharp, Managing Partner of Morgan Lewis’s London office. “His addition supports the growth and continuing development of our London office and bolsters the firm’s English law capabilities.”

“English law is increasingly employed as the governing law for international M&A transactions,” said Charles Engros, leader of Morgan Lewis’s Business and Finance Practice. “Moreover, since Stephen has practiced in both the UK and France and is dual qualified, his arrival widens our reach across a range of both established and emerging global markets,” he added.
