A NEW MINDSET
CEO and founder of the company, Giorgio Pautrie, launched Mind The Gum after being involved in a serious car accident in 2010. Struggling to keep up with his studies, he began to seek out ways to help him concentrate on his learning. It’s well known that chewing gum can help with concentration, but what if it contained active ingredients known to boost brain power too?
Unable to find something that did both, Giorgio decided to take things into his own hands, and with the help of pharmacists and scientists he came up with 15 active components, all packaged in a single chewing gum. In 2015, after taking part in the competition organized by Speed MI Up, the incubator of Bocconi University, Chamber of Commerce and Municipality of Milan, the company received funding for a total of € 100,000, followed by a second round of € 500,000 in 2018. The last investment round brought in more than €17million and the company is now enjoying an annual turnover of € 1million, even with the Covid pandemic causing chaos for businesses worldwide. This is a company that’s thriving, and not showing any signs of slowing down.
AVAILABLE IN BARS, PHARMACIES AND SHOPS
In 2020 Mind the Gum already had 3000 points of sale including bars and pharmacies, where the product was already sold, but shoppers can now also pick up the gum through the large scale retail industry too. It’s now possible to buy the product at regional distribution chains throughout Italy and at points of sales such as the service areas of motorways, stations and airports. By the end of the year, it was also present in the market of 15 other European countries through e-commerce and in some cases physical stores.
